Job Description:

Your tasks:

• Independent research activities in the field of the investigation of the electrified solid/liquid interface, in particular the study of its structure and chemistry under electrochemical working conditions ("Interface Chemistry and Structure")
• Teaching courses in the fields of physical chemistry and in the master's programme "Functional Materials Science", including preparation and follow-up work as well as examination activities
• Assisting with the supervision of doctoral, diploma, master's and bachelor's students
• Collaboration in organisational and administrative tasks

Your profile:

• Completed doctorate/Ph.D. In the field of physical chemistry, as well as relevant scientific achievements beyond the dissertation/Ph.D.
• Postdoctoral experience or relevant professional experience
• Mobility/expatriate experience
• Teaching experience in the field of physical chemistry
• Relevant knowledge and experience in the field of electrochemistry, in particular single crystal electrochemistry and basic electrochemical research
• Relevant knowledge and experience in the field of solid/liquid interface analysis under polarisation conditions
• Relevant knowledge and experience in the field of electrochemical scanning probe microscopy (EC-SPM), in particular in the fields of electrochemical scanning tunnelling microscopy (EC-STM) and atomic force microscopy (EC-AFM), as well as their combination
• Knowledge of the electronic and technical design of EC-SPMs and their components; the aim is to independently set up and develop EC-SPMs and their components
• Experience in acquiring third-party funding
• Planning and realisation of research projects
• Independent publication activities in international journals
• Experience in presenting research results at international congresses
• Very good written and spoken German and English (B1); teamwork, communication and cooperation skills; leadership skills and organisational talent; didactic skills
• The application must be accompanied by a research concept at habilitation level and a teaching concept

The vacant post offers a continuous scientific career up to an associate professor. A key component of this tenure track model is the so called "Qualifizierungsvereinbarung" (qualification agreement). An initial salary of € 4.933 p.m.^* shall be offered for this position. In the following, the conclusion of the qualification agreement will entitle to an increased salary of € 5.124 p.m.^* and the fulfilment of the agreed qualification objectives will entitle to an increased salary of € 5.546 p.m.^*. All mentioned salaries are monthly gross salaries, paid 14 times p.a.
