Job Description:

Your tasks:

• Independent research activities to implement an independent and innovative research programme for modelling diseases and ageing using iPSC-based models in 2D and 3D, preferably by means of epigenetic analyzes
• Involvement in ongoing projects at the Institute of Molecular Biology
• Independent delivery of high quality, research-led teaching in genomics, epigenetics, neurobiology and other areas of biology; involvement in teaching in Bachelor and Master programmes
• Supervision of Bachelor, Master and (after completion of the qualification agreement) Ph.D. Students. Students, guidance of technical staff
• Administrative and organisational tasks in research and teaching

Your profile:

• Completed relevant doctoral or PhD studies
• In-depth knowledge and independent research experience in the field of human pluripotent and neural stem cells and their differentiation into neural 2D and 3D models
• Intensive experience with bioinformatic transcriptome analyses, ideally also with single cell RNA sequencing or epigenetic analyses
• Experience in direct reprogramming into neural cell types desirable
• Relevant publications in internationally peer-reviewed journals (as first/ or last author)
• Professional mobility experience and international collaborations are desirable
• Experience in supervising BSc and MSc candidates desirable
• Experience in acquiring external funding desirable
• Description of a research project at habilitation level and teaching concept (max. 5 pages)
• German language skills (min. B2 level or willingness to acquire this in a reasonable time)
• Social skills
• Team and communication skills

An initial salary of € 4.933 p.m.^* shall be offered for this position. In the following, the conclusion of the qualification agreement will entitle to an increased salary of € 5.124 p.m.^* and the fulfilment of the agreed qualification objectives will entitle to an increased salary of € 5.546 p.m.^*. All mentioned salaries are monthly gross salaries, paid 14 times p.a.
