University Assistant (PhD position)

Job Description:

Your tasks:

• Dissertation in the field of discovery, characterisation and optimisation of plastic degrading enzymes
• Independent research and teaching in the field of microbial ecology and/or bioinformatics; dissemination
• Independent teaching
• Training and further education
• Administrative tasks

Your profile:

• Completed subject-relevant Master's, Magister or Diplom degree in bioinformatics, microbiology, biotechnology or a related field.
• Experience in the use of bioinformatics tools for the characterisation of microbes, e.g. Metagenomics, transcriptomics. Knowledge of molecular biology, e.g. DNA and RNA extraction, PCR, qPCR, enzyme assays, preparation of sequencing libraries, etc. Is an advantage.
• Very good knowledge of English; knowledge of German (if not native speaker) or willingness to acquire it.
• High motivation, resilience, flexibility, motivation; creative problem-solving skills; teamwork and communication skills; a high degree of independence and willingness to undertake research stays with cooperation partners in Germany and abroad.
