EB-House Austria: Scientific Associate / Technical Assistant Position

Full Time, Permanent – deadline for applications: 20.09.2024
Bewerbungsschluss 20.09.2024
Standort Salzburg

The

EB House Austria

is an EU Reference Center of Excellence for the rare genetic skin disease Epidermolysis bullosa (EB), affiliated with the University Hospital Salzburg and the Paracelsus Medical University. We consist of four units – an outpatient unit, academy, research unit, and clinical study center – and adopt a holistic approach to developing and delivering outstanding multi-disciplinary care to patients with EB.

We are offering a

permanent full-time position (40 hours/week) as a scientific associate

joining our anti-cancer drug development program team. EB is a devastating disease characterised by skin fragility due to mutations in genes encoding structural proteins necessary for maintaining proper adherence of the different skin layers to each other. As a result, the skin is prone to blistering and wounding after minimal trauma or friction. In the most severe subtypes, patients are prone to the development of life-threatening cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma. As there is a lack of treatment options for our cancer patients, we strive to identify vulnerabilities and cellular programs in cancer cells, which can be target in a drug repurposing approach. Our objective is to rigorously test drug candidates in various in vitro and in vivo cancer models using state-of-the art assays and technologies and drive clinical development for the benefit of our patients.

Start date as soon as possible. Minimum salary: 3.200 gross / month (14x p.a.), overpayment depending on prior experience and technical expertise.

The ideal candidate is highly motivated, reliable, flexible, and able to work both independently and as part of a team, and have strong time-management and communication skills. S/he is scientifically interested in gaining insights into the biology driving tumor development and progression and is fascinated and driven by our mission to find novel therapeutic options for our patients. The candidate will be able to learn new techniques and set up tests as required, whilst performing standardized & established cell culture-based and biochemical assays accurately and conscientiously. S/he will enjoy performing all steps from planning and execution to data analysis and presentation, including documentation of experiments, independently or as part of a team.
